  5. This is a 'sister' application to  !MkAdresBk.
  6.  
  7. It is an application for making a Distribution List file for the
  8. e_mail side of things in !Voyager from a simple text_file
  9. (made perhaps in !Edit) containing your contacts' names and addresses.
  10.  
  11. You need to have a copy of  !MkAdresBk  as well, to make the main 'Addresses' file.

  15. Making the Main  'ADDRESSES'  file.

  18. Making a text file of addresses is much more flexible and multi-usable
  19. than typing in the addresses to the address-book in Voyager where
  20. they are stored as a BASIC Data_File and so pretty much un-usable in other
  21. contexts.

  23. The file format of the Text_File is crucial, of course.
  24. Just make it as follows -

  27.    If you want to include one or more Distribution Groups in your main
  28.    Addresses file, you have to have declared the List_Names when making your
  29.    Addresses_File.
  30.  
  31.    Do this by typing the list name you choose and pressing return on its own
  32.    for the "address".

  34. Here's an example of part of a possible main  Addresses  file :

  53. Just make sure to press RETURN once after the last address.

  56.    You don't have to include the names and address of the MusicGroup or of
  57.    the FootyTeam in your main address file, but you have to pave the way
  58.    for their inclusion later on.

  60.    Because List_Names are stored as Directories by !Voyager, you must not
  61.    exceed 10 characters in their names, and there must be no SPACES or
  62.    'illegal' characters in their name.

  65. Save this file somewhere.
  66. Double click on !MkAdresBk.
  67. The icon appears on the left of the icon bar.
  68. Drag your text_file on to the icon.
  69. The file called  Addresses  is created, leaving your original file
  70. intact and a window opens the !PostyUser directory in !Voyager, reader for
  71. you to transfer the  Addresses  file into.

  92. and save your text_file somewhere safe.

  94. Double click on  !MkDistLst  and drag your file on to it.
  95. The ListFile will be called  Dist_List  be default.
  96. You'll have to RENAME it to whatever you called the ListName in your
  97. main  'Addresses'  file.
  98. A  MailList  directory window will open up at the end of the file-creation
  99. and you can drag your distribution file into it.
